Companion program for Western Digital SSDs
Western Digital SSD Dashboard is a free utility tool developed by Western Digital for PC devices. It serves as a companion program for the company's line of SSD storage devices. It helps users manage the drives installed on their computers and ensure that they are all working properly.
Just like how Samsung and ADATA have their SSD Magician Tool and SSD Toolbox, so too does Western Digital SSD Dashboard serve a similar role for its supported products. It comes with options and features that help maximize the performance of SSDs, as well as keep their firmware up-to-date.
How do I use it?
Western Digital SSD Dashboard presents a clean and modern UI that provides vital information about your SSD. It shows details about its firmware version, health status, and security protocol up top. This is part of the Status tab, one of the five sections you'll navigate in this tool. Head on over to Performance to see a monitoring chart for your devices, as well as perform an optimization method called TRIM.
Moving on, the Tools section can help with checking and updating firmware, do a full wipe, and run a diagnostics scan to check for any possible performance or hardware issues on your SSD. You’ll also find Drive Details here, which provides comprehensive details about your drive, such as its serial number, the type of memory tech it uses, and even some theoretical read and write speeds that it's capable of.
The last two tabs are for your Settings and Help. The former helps update the utility itself and lets you have it run on system startup. The latter can be used to refer to user guides for your device or to reach customer support if you have any queries or issues. The only thing to keep in mind here is that this utility is meant for Western Digital-branded storage devices only.
